ENGL 4366: Technical and Professional Editing

This class provided me with the opportunity to work with real-world clients in two very different ways. With my first project, I worked with online clients via iFixit to edit instruction manuals. For my final project, I worked with a graduate student to edit a creative writing portfolio piece, afterward creating a technical reflection document in Word that showcased the skills that I learned.

ENGL 3369: Information Design

Information Design taught me the importance of using visuals when creating a document. I learned not only how to use them, but how to use them well so that messages are better received and are also acceptable to different cultures. For example, we took our class syllabus and, instead of keeping it as a text-heavy documents, each created infographics to showcase the information using more appealing visual aspects.

ENGL 3365: Professional Report Writing

Professional Report Writing allowed me to create a professional proposal and infographic. Working with a group, we wrote a proposal to real-world company Blue Apron, proposing they create a meal plan designed for college students. Afterward, we also created an infographic describing the proposal in a fun way.

ENGL 2312: Intro to Technical Communications

My introduction class into the world of Technical Communications gave me great practice in redesigning documents to fit multiple cultures. It also gave me insight on how to work with clients by providing me with a hospital "client," asking me to help fix a communication issue and create a usable website.

TC Intern at TTU TLPDC

During this internship, I worked with TTU's TLPDC department to improve upon the university's ePortfolio building tool. I helped to recreate tutorial videos showing students and professors how to create and use ePortflios and also created professional and technical "how-to" documents and scripts for future improvers.
